A social media influencer is accused of persuading a stranger, who admitted she couldn’t swim, to dive into a Texas lake—then fleeing when the woman struggled and cried for help.

Kick streamer Natalie Reynolds reportedly paid the woman $20 to dive into the water as part of a scavenger hunt. Reynolds was live-streaming the stunt on Wednesday along Lady Bird Lake in Austin, where she was filmed telling the woman to “just jump in.”

Reynolds allegedly freaked out after the woman actually dove headfirst into the water. The woman later revealed that she only knew how to float, not swim.

“You said it was OK… you told me to jump in,” the woman told Reynolds. The streamer laughed off the situation, denying she told the woman to jump, despite her friends’ assertions to the contrary.

The fun quickly ended when the woman yelled for help, saying she was struggling to get out of the water. Reynolds initially made pushing gestures at the woman’s back to convince her to jump. After the woman dove in, Reynolds tried to distance herself from the scene, becoming tearful as her friends warned her that the situation was “really bad.”

“Stop, seriously, you’re actually freaking me out,” Reynolds said. “I’m going to f—ing kill myself. She says she’s drowning.”

The clip ends with Reynolds and her group driving away as a fire truck arrives. The Austin Fire Department confirmed that firefighters were called to Lady Bird Lake to provide medical assistance and that a person in the water was pulled out.

The woman’s condition and the type of medical assistance she needed were not immediately clear.

Reynolds later defended her actions in a follow-up stream, claiming she left on her team’s instruction and that the woman had approached her first, daring her to jump into the water. Reynolds dismissed the criticism, suggesting the incident would be forgotten in a week.

The stunt drew backlash on social media, with many condemning Reynolds for taking advantage of a vulnerable person for likes and views. Some even suggested she should be arrested.

This isn’t the first time Reynolds has faced public disdain. In December, she was criticized for filming herself wearing painted pants to a gym and dismissing a worker who instructed her to change and leave.
